FRAMING THE ABSTRACTS

The site is at an important intersection within the suburbs of Surat city, where the pavilion serves as the sales office for an upcoming residential development project. With the site being adjacent to the road, the initial concept was to introduce apertures on varying levels of the building and project numerous street activities onto the interior counterparts of the structure. The main façade has an exposed brick finished that simultaneously acts as a backdrop to multiple openings on the wall and presents a layered weave of landscape, bricks, and concrete for the façade. The internal spaces run along a vestibule that connects and follow a basic hierarchy of public, semi-public, and private spaces. These spaces are aligned parallel to the road and have varying apertures on the façade to provide privacy to the interior spaces and yet have an unobstructed flow of natural light into the building.
